Tokyo Bay Linear City Nanako Umemoto Studio SP10
LINK city - a linear city along the aqualine in Tokyo Bay.
The LINK creates a multilayered transportation system connecting the rural Chiba Prefecture with the dense urban Tokyo City, whilst creating a new exciting way of living on water in Tokyo Bay. The city becomes a hub for transportation in the greater Tokyo area creating a closed loop around the bay by expanding the existing monorail system and proposing a new seaport and a new international airport competitive to the world’s largest airports [ATL, PEK, LHR] to solve Tokyo’s airport expansion issues.
A parallel programmatic scalar and characteristic shift is proposed as opposed to a nodal system with a definite city center, shortening travel spans between live, work and play, creating close community networks and a healthier way of living.
